About the course:
This course is designed to help doctors and medical students develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English. It aims to give these participants the opportunity to learn specialised vocabulary and expressions, to activate passive vocabulary, to learn the English pronunciation of medical terms and to increase fluency and confidence in using English in professional contexts.

Learning objectives:
Besides the benefits outlined above that are specific to your background, you will gain the following:

  • To help you have a clear understanding of the function of Western world medicine
  • To introduce students to Medical English as an aid to patient-doctor communication
  • To raise awareness in using medical English among colleagues for more effective communication
  • To help you to present at international conferences and trainings in English
  • To help students be confident in writing medical articles in English
  • To familiarize students with basic medical vocabulary, terminology and idioms and using them effectively and appropriately in the right context

Requirements: A placement test is required if you have not attended English courses at AUA.
Participants should score Level 3 or higher from English Placement test. Placement tests are administered every Thursday at 4:00 PM. Advance registration is required: im.aua.am.
Placement test fee: 2,100 AMD
