This course is designed to give students a comprehensive view of communication, its scope and importance in the tourism and hospitality industry, and the role of communication in establishing a favorable environment, internally as well as externally. The various types of business communication media are covered. This course also develops an awareness of the importance of the written expression in modern business communication. Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to demonstrate competency in the fundamentals of business writing, in oral and interpersonal communication including one-on-one, small-group communication, and public presentation. Students will also gain understanding of the basics of intercultural communication.
