Intellectual Property Training Program

The Intellectual Property Training Program (IPTP) represents Armenia’s national center for intellectual property (IP) training. It is responsible for designing and delivering training for intellectual property inventors, professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers, and public officials working in the domain, including individuals involved in intellectual property rights protection and business development.

Institutional Framework

IPTP operates as a national IP Training Program under the American University of Armenia (AUA) Extension, combining the intellectual property protection mandate, as well as the IP expertise of the Intellectual Property Office (AIPO), with AUA Extension’s academic and training capacity to deliver the prescribed IP education stated in the AIPO-AUA Memorandum of Cooperation.

The establishment of IPTI was initiated in 2023 through a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and AIPO to support the creation of a national IP training center in Armenia. Building on this foundation, a Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2024 between AIPO and AUA further formalized IPTP’s establishment under AUA Extension, leading to its official launch in 2026.

What IPTP Offers

Working closely with AIPO, IPTP will serve as the local provider of IP training designed to provide/implement professional training in intellectual property protection; ensure the training of qualified intellectual property specialists; improve education on intellectual property in the Republic of Armenia; and increase the level of awareness about intellectual property in general. Effort will be directed toward designing and implementing training for different segments in appropriate formats and at levels essential to addressing diverse professional needs in IP, primarily through

  • Awareness-Raising Workshops

  • Skills-Based Training

These workshops aim to cover a wide range of intellectual property topics, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, industrial designs and related areas that may include specialized topics, such as IP governance, registration and enforcement systems, commercialization, IP for SMEs, and related information.

Learning Approach

IPTP courses are delivered by experienced national and international IP experts. Training emphasizes practical application through case studies, exercises, and interactive discussions that tackle solutions in real professional contexts.

Training is delivered primarily in Armenian, with selected topics available in English, with Armenian translation.

Participation in IPTP programs is subject to a course fee.
