Ani Vardanyan
English Instructor
Ani VardanyanEnglish Instructor
Teaching is learning, and learning is what I like to do most. Teaching English is more about introducing the culture and mentality of the English speaking community to the students who came for grammar and vocabulary. The outcome is promising- people open not a window but a whole door to the international world- more information, more communication, more opportunities.
I am a teacher by education and vocation. In his commencement speech for Stanford University  in 2005 Steve Jobs said “You’ve got to find what you love”, and I am happy to say I did, and I fully enjoy every hour of teaching and learning.
As for educational background, I went to the public school after A. Pushkin, and parallelly tried to develop my piano playing and singing skills in the music school after Sayat-Nova, which I actually graduated, to my own surprise. I did a bachelor’s degree course in Linguistics in the European Academy in Armenia, followed by two master’s degrees in Linguistics(the same university) and Journalism(National Academy of Sciences of the RA), which I took simultaneously. A PhD research in the field of comparative and historical linguistics helped me realize how unique my mother language is and how much similar to and different from English it is.
In my professional development, I specify the winter of 2014, when I traveled to Budapest, Hungary to do a Cambridge University Qualification intensive course and obtain my CELTA(Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults). It was challenging to teach non-Armenian students, and I mastered the skill of delivering a foreign language with the use of that same foreign language only, and much more.
Currently I am teaching for AUA Extension and seize every chance to become better in my job.
