Public Speaking and Presentation Skills

This training introduces participants to the overall concept of the communication cycle, public speaking and presentation skills. The training will provide skills and a process for anyone striving to learn how to make a flawless public speech and deliver a professional presentation.  The training will provide participants with the skills and resources to become an effective and professional communicator.  At the end of the course, the participants should have a good understanding of how to make an effective presentation and a public speech.

About the instructor: Dr. Hilda Grigorian joined AUA College of Business and Economics in 2013, teaching “Effective Communication in the Work Place” to Graduate and  “Business Communication” to Under-graduate cohort. Dr. Grigorian has over 25 years of professional experience in the private sector in the U.S. with over 16 years of experience in International Development arena including 7 years of working for USAID and other donor agencies in Afghanistan, where she served as Senior Development Adviser to the U.S. and NATO Armed forces. As a Subject Matter Expert for Afghanistan, she played a key role in training both civilian and military personnel prior to deployment to Afghanistan in the areas of; cultural awareness, communication, and ethics. In May 2011, Dr. Grigorian was recognized by the United States Congress for her achievements in Armenia and Afghanistan. Dr. Grigorian earned her Ph.D. in Public Policy and International NGO Management from Walden University.

Enrollment: To enroll in AUA Open Education courses, please go through the following steps (see below for the Armenian version):

  • Visit im.aua.am.
  • Create an account by clicking New User Registration.
  • If you are not a new user and already have an AUA account (having previously taken the AUA e-Math Test or applied to AUA), you should log into the account that you had created at that time.
  • If you just registered as a new user, you will get an email asking to activate your account.
  • Now, for registering to take a course, go to the Open Education tab, choose Adults (16+), then New Application, and apply for the course(s) you choose.
  • After you register online, your application will be reviewed and you will receive an email acknowledging your application.
  • Closer to the course start date, you will receive another email confirming your enrollment, requesting that you make payment before the course start date. The fee can be paid online via credit card or through the EasyPay terminal (located at the entrance to AUA). Alternatively, you may pay the fee via bank transfer to the American University of Armenia Fund, account 1570001024240100, Ameria Bank CJSC, indicating your full name (as in the registration) and the course you are paying for.
  • The completed application together with the record of payment completes your enrollment.
