
About the course
The Business English course is designed to help professionals strengthen their English for workplace communication. The course content combines soft skills and functional language for professional interaction with practical skills useful in real business situations.
At the Intermediate level, the course focuses on building confidence in everyday business communication. Participants are taught essential skills, such as composing emails, participating in discussions, and taking meeting notes, while improving vocabulary, listening, and pronunciation.
At the Advanced level, the course aims to develop higher-level skills for more complex workplace tasks. Participants are trained in language related to leading meetings, negotiating effectively, drafting reports, and managing slightly more challenging conversations.
Each course is intended to improve participants’ knowledge of English most used in the workplace and to develop skills needed to function in a business environment.

- Enhance their business vocabulary and be able to use it appropriately

- Communicate effectively in practical, business-oriented situations

- Handle professional interactions in English in a variety of business contexts, from negotiating to socializing.
Program Content
Course content includes reading, speaking, writing, listening, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, functional language, and business workshops.
- Reading: Engaging texts with tasks that measure comprehension.
- Speaking: Interactive discussions, presentations, and collaborative tasks to practice communication in the workplace.
- Writing: Practice across different formats, including emails, reports, meeting notes, and memos.
- Listening: Activities to improve comprehension of spoken English
- Vocabulary: Use topic-specific professional vocabulary in proper context.
- Functional Language: Use practical expressions and phrases for handling professional interactions effectively.
Who Should Take This Course?
The Intermediate Business English course is ideal for professionals at Level 3 or better who want to strengthen their ability to communicate in English at work. It is especially suited for those who need support in developing confidence in everyday business communication, such as writing emails, participating in discussions, and preparing meeting notes.
The Advanced Business English course is designed for professionals at Level 5 or better who already have a strong foundation in English and want to refine their communication for more complex business tasks. This includes using English in formal and informal conversations, meetings, negotiations, writing reports, and handling professional correspondence.
Start date: Classes roll on a continuous basis
Duration of each level: 24 hours - 12 sessions
Schedule: 2 sessions weekly
Time: Evenings from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Course fee per level: 69,000 AMD
Requirements:
- You may attend the Intermediate Business English course if you are at 3 or better on the Placement Test, or if you have successfully completed Level 4 or higher of the General English at AUA Extension.
- You may attend the Advanced Business English course if you are at Level 5 or better on the Placement Test, or if you have successfully completed Level 5 or higher of the General English at AUA Extension.
Placement tests are administered every Thursday at 4:00 PM at the American University of Armenia. Advance registration is required through im.aua.am. Placement test fee: 2,100 AMD.
