Pre Intermediate Eastern Armenian

About the course:
The Eastern Armenian Pre-Intermediate Level course is a 48-hour program divided into eight-week. It is intended to provide participants with an opportunity to further develop their Armenian proficiency level with a continuous focus on their communicative ability in all four skills, i.e. listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
The course employs task-based and communicative-based teaching and learning approaches. The intercultural competence is an integral part of the Eastern Armenian Language course which introduces basic objective and unbiased views of the Armenian traditions and practices. The course includes video and audio materials, quizzes, real-life situations, hands-on activities, role plays and teamwork. Armenian is the language of instruction and communication most of the time.

Learning objectives:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Further develop their listening and speaking skills in Armenian by being exposed to real life situations.
  • Converse with ease and confidence when dealing with routine tasks such as self, family, work, home, daily activities, interests and personal preferences, food, shopping, travel, and ordering food, etc. by using most of the major time frames and relevant vocabulary.
  • Gain confidence by understanding, practicing, editing and correcting errors of grammatical forms and structures.
  • Get exposed to as well as use basic structural peculiarities of the Armenian language and its word building techniques.
  • Develop strategies in all language skills and functions for ongoing learning
  • Gain self-reliance in cultural matters by being exposed to a wide range of learning activities accompanied by cultural tips
  • Obtain confidence in practicing Armenian in the community by actively participating in social life.
  • Narrate and describe in some major time frames as well as maintain paragraph length discourse.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Speak in short paragraphs to provide personal information related to self, family, work, home, shopping, travel, lodging, etc.
  • Hear more Armenian when interacting with local people
  • Hold short conversations with local people with ease and confidence.
  • Ask and answer more questions in social situations with ease and confidence.
  • Write a short paragraph using some link words/discourse markers

  • Express opinions, requests, give and follow directions, take a stance
  • Use the language accurately on a wide range of general, marking clearly the relationships between ideas.
  • Gain confidence in the Armenian pronunciation
  • Read with a large degree of independence, adapting style and speed of reading to different texts and purposes, and using appropriate reference sources

Who should attend this course?
The pre-intermediate Eastern Armenian course is designed for everyone who wants to learn Eastern Armenian at a pre-intermediate level after completing the elementary level.

Days: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays or Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
